Omni for QuickBooks users

Your books stay in QuickBooks. Omni runs the stock, the orders and the purchasing in front of it, and posts the finished sale across.

Operations in front of the ledger

QuickBooks keeps the books. Omni runs what happens before them.

QuickBooks was built to be your ledger, and it is a good one. It was not built to tell you what is on the shelf across three locations, what to reorder on Tuesday, or which wholesale account is owed a different price. That is the work Omni does. Your catalog, stock, purchase orders, fulfillment and customer records live in Omni. When a sale is paid or an invoice is settled, it posts across to QuickBooks as a sales receipt, an invoice or a payment. The direction is one way, and that is deliberate: Omni is where operations happen, QuickBooks is where they are recorded.

What Omni adds in front of QuickBooks

Stock you can trust

One figure per location, moved by every sale, transfer, receipt and count. The number on the shelf and the number on the screen come from the same place.

Purchasing that reads demand

Reorder points and supplier lead times turn into a purchase order you approve, rather than a hunch at 11pm.

The counter and the order

Ring up a sale, take a card through your own processor, and handle returns against the original receipt.

One customer record

The person who bought in store, ordered online and called about a repair is one customer with one history.

Wholesale pricing per account

Contract prices, tiers and quantity breaks resolve per account, so the price a buyer sees is the one you agreed.

What crosses to QuickBooks

Paid orders post as sales receipts, AR invoices as invoices, and payments against them as payments. Lines book to a single Omni Sales income item, which Omni creates in your company file the first time it posts.

How Omni connects to QuickBooks

Authorize Omni from QuickBooks Online and pick the income account the sales should land in. From then on, posting runs on a schedule rather than by hand. The automatic connection is on the Elite plan; every other plan exports the same figures as CSV for your bookkeeper to bring in.

Who it's for

Businesses whose QuickBooks inventory has stopped keeping up: more than one location, stock that moves faster than a monthly reconciliation, or wholesale accounts on their own prices. You keep your accountant, your chart of accounts and your filing history.

Frequently asked questions

Does Omni manage the inventory inside QuickBooks?

No, and that is rather the point. Stock lives in Omni, where it is moved by sales, transfers, receipts and counts. QuickBooks receives the finished sale. Running operational stock inside a ledger is usually what brings people here.

Does inventory sync back into QuickBooks?

No. Omni posts the sale, not the stock. One thing does get created: the first time Omni posts, it adds a single service item called Omni Sales to your company file, and every line books against that. Your item list is otherwise untouched.

Can Omni push my bills or supplier payments?

Not today. Purchase orders, receiving and supplier bills live in Omni, and what crosses to QuickBooks is the sales side: paid orders, invoices and their payments. Payables stay where you keep them.

Which plan do I need?

The automatic connection is on Elite. Every plan below it produces the same figures as a CSV export, which is how most businesses start.

Do I have to change my chart of accounts?

No. You choose which income account the sales land in when you connect, and nothing else moves.
